Amelia Hanibelsz
Amelia is an award-winning and Primetime Emmy–nominated filmmaker with over two decades of international documentary experience. She is currently directing Unpacking Grief, a tender, honest, and unexpectedly funny film inspired by the way she and her mother always found light in the dark.
As Founder and CEO of Tell2C Productions, a collective of female storytellers for change, Amelia has led global creative teams and lived and worked across ten countries. Her latest award-winning short, The Good Fight: Armen Vs Giuliani, premiered at DOC NYC 2025.
Formerly Executive Director of Development at ABC News Studios/Disney, she has collaborated with UNICEF, Sesame Workshop, ActionAid, the Gates Foundation, and FilmAid Kenya, where she proudly serves on the board.
A respected voice in the industry, Amelia has judged for the News & Documentary Emmys, Hot Docs, Reel Impact, and Netflix New Voices, and has moderated and spoken at festivals including DOC NYC, Tribeca, and Movies That Matter.
Unpacking Grief is her most personal project yet, embracing the messiness of loss while celebrating the humor and humanity that help us carry it.
