Andrea Meyerson

Andrea Meyerson is an award-winning creator of film, television programming, and live productions. As founder and president of AMP (Andrea Meyerson Productions), formerly StandOut Productions, she has produced and directed over 30 feature films, television specials and series episodes which have aired on Showtime, Viacom’s Logo Network and several Canadian networks.

In 2002, Andrea produced and directed the award-winning documentary LAUGHING MATTERS. The success of the critically acclaimed film spawned three award-winning sequels. To date, she has created nine award-winning feature documentaries, all with the intention to educate, enlighten, and entertain. Through her unique perspective, Andrea has provided a voice for the LGBTQ community by documenting and preserving its rich history and culture.

She is also a prolific producer of live comedy shows and concerts. Since founding AMP in 1997, she has staged live events featuring some of the country’s best-known entertainers, including Wanda Sykes, Roseanne Barr, k.d. lang, Indigo Girls, Joan Armatrading and Brandi Carlile. She also produced and hosted a vlog called All Access Pass, featured on AfterEllen.com. While she was able to interview famous celebrities, it was an important vehicle for her to showcase unknown talent as well.

After having the privilege to attend hundreds of film festivals worldwide as a guest filmmaker, another passion was unleashed. Understanding the importance of film festivals for both filmmakers and audiences, she began working with them. She is currently a programmer, juror, and moderator for QFilms (Long Beach), she has been a juror and associate programmer for Outfest (Los Angeles), and a juror at OUTshine (Miami). She was hired as the festival director to produce the first-ever lesbian film festival for Olivia Travel.

Andrea is humbled and full of gratitude with being recognized both within and outside the LGBTQ community, receiving many awards for her body of work. A partial list includes: being the first openly gay recipient of YWCA’s “Women of Achievement Award,” the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center’s L.A.C.E. (Lesbians Active in Community Empowerment) Award, the Women’s Image Network “WIN Outstanding Women Award and the Human Rights Campaign’s “Local Hero Award.” She was honored by PowerUp as one of the “10 Amazing Women in Showbiz.” Andrea was also presented with the “Body of Work Award” by Pride of the Ocean LGBT Film Festival.

In 1995, Andrea founded Women On A Roll, one of the country’s largest social organizations for lesbians. Now in its 23rd year, the organization still offers worldwide travel and other unique opportunities for women.

Through her experience, she has truly learned about the beauty of making films, their powerful impact, and the legacy they leave for future generations. Her journey as a storyteller continues to evolve. She is excited about entering the world of narrative filmmaking, and is currently touring the film festival circuit with her second narrative short film which as won nine awards to date. She has recently begun production on her 10th feature documentary and is simultaneously co-writing her first feature screenplay.
