Daniel King

Descendent of the Ngarigo/Yuin and Awabakal/Worimi nations Daniel is an Indigenous filmmaker that works in both factual and narrative forms as director, but is also a skilled camera operator and editor. Award-winning Awabakal / Ngarigo filmmaker, Daniel King has been making content for broadcast and his community for over 15 years. Mainly working with Indigenous content, Daniel believes in “reclaiming our historical narrative, empowering our voices, and celebrating our identity”. In 2021 Daniel was the inaugural recipient of the Indigenous Documentary mid-career placement with AIDC, ABC and Northern Pictures. Working across all genres Daniels’s recent credits include the feature documentary Trading Cultures (NITV), Ganbul Gulin (NITV), The Fitzroy Stars (ABC TV), 8 x Our Stories episodes (NITV), Artworks (ABC TV), ABC Arts (ABC Digital) and Catalyst (ABC Digital) and the factual series, Great Southern Landscapes staring Rachel Griffith (ABC TV). Daniel is currently in production on a very personal documentary about his Great Grandmother HER NAME IS NANNY NELLIE and is very excited to be directing the documentary JUST LIKE US.
