Elizabeth Wolff

Elizabeth specializes in propulsive character- and archive- driven documentaries. She is currently co-directing an archival-driven feature documentary with Liz Garbus about trailblazing tennis champ and activist Billie Jean King (Disney/ESPN). She has also been showrunning Garbus’ forthcoming three-parter about the Long Island Serial Killer (Netflix) and last year was named one of DOC NYC’s 2023 “40 Under 40.” With Garbus, Elizabeth directed and produced the documentary series I’LL BE GONE IN THE DARK (HBO, 2020), the standard-bearer in victim-centered, feminist crime storytelling, and produced the archival-driven series BOBBY KENNEDY FOR PRESIDENT (Netflix, 2018). Elizabeth has been developing nonfiction projects for over over a decade, from reality programming to adapting historical material for the screen like Ron Chernow’s biography of Ulysses S. Grant into a six-hour hybrid documentary (History Channel, 2020). A lifelong nonfiction storyteller, Elizabeth began her career as a reporter for the New York Post and holds an BA in U.S. History and Literature from Wesleyan University. She has a three-year-old daughter and resides in NYC.
