Kuʻulei Keakealani
Kuʻulei Keakealani is an educator, cultural practitioner, poet, storyteller, and activist from a paniolo family in Puʻuanahulu, North Kona. A lifelong advocate for Native Hawaiian culture and land stewardship, she has served as director of Ahahui O Puʻu Waʻawaʻa, president of Hui ʻOhana Mai Puʻu Anahulu A Me Puʻu Waʻawaʻa, and currently leads cultural and educational programs with Hui Aloha Kīholo, Ka Pilina Poina ʻOle, and the Kaʻūpūlehu Foundation. She was also instrumental in establishing the Hawaiian language immersion preschool Pūnana Leo o Waimea and the early childhood program Mālamapōki‘i.
As a filmmaker, Keakealani brings a deeply rooted perspective to stories of place, community, and tradition. Her work aims to honor and preserve the voices, histories, and landscapes of Hawaiʻi.
