Lizzy Bentley
Lizzy produced A HIDDEN LIFE which premiered in competition at Cannes 2019 and was released by Fox Searchlight. Previous work includes producing BEAUTIFUL DARLING (2010) about Candy Darling, Warhol superstar and transgender pioneer and writing the screenplay for NANKING (2008) a doc/narrative synthesis about the Japanese invasion of China. Bentley was nominated for a WGA Award for writing NANKING, won best documentary for BEAUTIFUL DARLING at the Chicago Film Festival and was nominated for Best Feature for A HIDDEN LIFE at the Independent Spirit Awards. Her films have screened at the Berlinale, Sundance, MoMA, the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Telluride and Toronto. Currently she is adapting the memoir DINNER WITH EDWARD for Sovereign Films and writing an original screenplay about journalist John Hersey’s experience writing HIROSHIMA for NHK in Japan. Bentley’s essays have appeared in the Times of India and the LA Times. She received her AB from Harvard and her MFA from the School of Cinematic Arts at USC. Her work has also been supported by The Michael C. Rockefeller Fellowship and the Yaddo Foundation.
