Marshall Tyler

Marshall Tyler is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and TV director.  His episodic directing credits
include 9-1-1 (Angela Bassett) for FOX, City on a Hill (Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge) for
Showtime, Leverage: Redemption (Noah Wiley, Aldis Hodge) for Amazon, and the edgy,
suspense-driven dark-comedy Average Joe (Deon Cole) for BET+/Paramount+. Marshall’s short
films Night Shift, Cap and Slow Pulse have gained critical acclaim premiering at film festivals
such as Sundance, the ABFF HBO Short Film Competition and the Tribeca Film Festival.  Each
aired on HBO, CBS and BET respectively. His harrowing first-person documentary Skid Row took
Pras Michel from legendary Fugees fame and placed him on the streets of LA’s notorious skid
row where Pras lived for nine straight days, premiered on Netflix.

Tyler is one of three mid-career episodic directors selected for the highly competitive 2024
Apple Studios Directors Program, Marshall is also an alumni of the ABC Disney Television
Directing Program, and is a fellow of the Ryan Murphy Half Initiative.  Through his company
New Bumper & Paint, Tyler is currently developing his narrative feature debut, Fever Dream
and has partnered with Vogue Studios/Condé Nast Entertainment for his upcoming feature
documentary The Prince of Seventh Avenue: The Legend of WilliWear/Willi Smith about the life
of legendary designer Willi Smith and his iconic label-brand, WilliWear.
