Melanie Vi Levy

Melanie Vi Levy is an independent producer, director, and editor whose work includes award-winning documentaries for HBO, Hulu, POV, Independent Lens, and MTV. Her feature credits include Nathan-ism, Hillbilly, Wonder Woman! The Untold Story of American Superheroines, The Last Laugh, and United Skates.

For over a decade, she has documented legendary theater artist Ping Chong across numerous theatrical productions. Influenced by his mentorship, Levy shifted from theater to poetic nonfiction storytelling while at NYU. This feature film serves as a tribute to Chong’s artistic legacy and his lasting impact on generations of artists and makers.

She holds a BFA from NYU Tisch and an MFA in Documentary Film and Video from Stanford University.
