Michael Economy

Michael Economy is an artist with 38 years of experience working in New York City as an illustrator and creative director. He is known for popularizing the late 20th century aesthetic of cartoony fashion illustration and for publishing the seminal “queer zine” Pansy Beat. His artwork has appeared on soda cans, album sleeves, perfume bottles, Times Square billboards, broadcast television and in videos.
Economy is the co-founder of Krimskrams Island, LLC, an art publishing company. His recent projects are focused on video and photography and he is currently working on the short documentary EYES OF MEL ODOM.
