Myles David Jewell

Myles David Jewell is a Burlington, VT based freelance filmmaker and content creator. He runs Pennington Productions and works independently on both feature documentaries and narrative films. He has directed and produced his own work since 2008, including film festival laurels for both his short and feature documentaries. His first feature, STRANGLEHOLD: In the Shadow of the Boston Strangler, won best editing at the Boston Film Festival. He has since gone on to shoot two independent feature narratives, and produce three under Loser’s Crown Productions. Myles earned a Master of Arts in Cinema Studies from New York University and an Advanced Certificate from The Program in Culture and Media. His scholarship focuses on the tension between fiction and non-fiction and is rooted in Ethnographic approaches to media. He believes firmly in the ethics of representation and collaborative approaches to media production, working in the community he calls home, Burlington, Vermont. He teaches as a Lecturer in the Department of Community Development and Applied Economics at The University of Vermont. His classes include Docs for Social Change, Sports Media and Community Media Production, where he works with the local community media access as a community partner and he is also co-creating and producing a feature length documentary about the rich history of local media.
