Pierre Kattar
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Pierre grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ. Never fully fitting into any one culture, Pierre continues to navigate questions of belonging and identity.. He began his career as a journalist in 1998, coding HTML as the web developer for washingtonpost.com’s pioneering multimedia team. That’s where he discovered an emerging form of video storytelling for newspapers and, in 2002 – thanks to support from his managers and colleagues – he transitioned from web developer to pursue his passion as a full-time video journalist. In 2010, Pierre began working as an independent cinematographer, editor and director. He is especially passionate when working on films that peel back the layers of prejudice, racism and ignorance and explore the human condition.
