Ryan Shepard

Ryan Shepard is a proud native of Los Angeles, California. His family structure is complicated to say the least. He’s the firstborn to both of his parents, who were teenagers when they had him. Both have gone on to remarry and build new families. As a result, Ryan now has six sisters, two brothers, a stepdad and two stepmoms. The family is spread out, living in places like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Dallas and Washington DC.

He’s a graduate of Morehouse College and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Ryan was a 2011 Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship at the Harvard Kennedy School Center for Public Leadership. Ryan spent time professionally at McKinsey & Co., the City of Atlanta and Purpose Built Schools Atlanta.

Most recently, Ryan established US Programs for the Global NGO CARE. In the role, Ryan and team built the organization’s first domestic programming, including a food assistance network that delivered 13-million meals to vulnerable communities across the US.

In the summer of 2022, Ryan left CARE to focus full-time on DOES THIS COUNT AS THERAPY.
