Stephen Smith

Stephen Smith became involved in exploration and research on the frozen ocean in the late 1970s. Over three decades he worked as a wildlife biologist studying Arctic cliff-nesting seabirds. He was also commissioned to a pioneering study in Antarctica that investigated the diving physiology of emperor penguins. As a polar expedition leader, Stephen has organized and led more than 60 projects. He has directed three feature documentaries on Arctic change, including Vanishing Point (finalist: Best Feature Documentary, 2014 Canadian Screen Awards).
