Against the backdrop of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to reverse the 50 year-old Roe v. Wade decision guaranteeing a woman’s right to an abortion, A TALE OF TWO JUDYS tells the story of two feminist activists – Judy Gumbo and Judy Rebick – who have worked in parallel trajectories for feminist causes like reproductive justice on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border since the 1970s. They have never crossed paths before now but have ‘fought to rise up against a world that limits possibilities’ and changed their lives, and those of countless other women, forever.
A TALE OF TWO JUDYS will reveal how and why they became feminists during a time in history when it was difficult to get their voices heard. This is a timely and important reminder of, as Rebick says ‘… how far we have come in a single generation’ and ‘making sure we never go back’ –not only for women but for anyone who is captivated by social justice issues and the women who have championed them.
