Caught in a perfect storm of being pressured into an arranged marriage by her family and violently attacked by gunmen on the streets of her hometown Karachi, Pakistani journalist Hina Ali makes a bold choice to move from Pakistan to the U.S. Single and unemployed, Hina films herself as she navigates the U.S. immigration system, learns to enjoy her newfound freedom, forges a new identity, mourns her father’s untimely death, maintains her precious, but now precarious, bond with family, and eventually sets out to find a life partner who may not be Muslim.
