HOPE on the Menu follows Sharon Richardson, a survivor of domestic violence and 20 years of incarceration, and the women in her transformative program, which empowers formerly incarcerated survivors of abuse with similar backgrounds. As Sharon leads the way, we follow Donna and Brigitte, two women closely connected to Sharon, each facing their own unique challenges and triumphs as they break free from cycles of incarceration and trauma. Through cooking, dancing, and sisterhood, they reclaim their dignity, rebuild their lives, and discover hope for the future.
This feature-length documentary explores the intersection of trauma recovery, creative expression, and social entrepreneurship, highlighting the empowerment of women overcoming abuse and incarceration as they work tirelessly to break down barriers to reintegration while navigating prejudice, self-doubt, and societal judgments.
