To confront racism against Japanese Americans in the 1940’s, a group of women activists garnered support from John Steinbeck and the broader community of Monterey, California. This full length documentary and the accompanying discussion and curriculum guide tells the story about the campaign to discourage Japanese Americans from returning to their hometowns at the end of World War II, and the courageous group of citizens that resisted this bigotry and publicly demanded “The Democratic Way of Life for All.”
