SPECTRUM is a feature documentary about the art, science and culture of color. The film immerses audiences in the intensity of color, combining animation, archival footage, and lush, newly created cinematography set to original music, SPECTRUM asks audiences what color is, how we see it, and what it means.

When we see a color, why and how does it make us FEEL something? Is our experience of color a purely scientific phenomenon? Or is color primarily a cultural construct, informed by art history, linguistic expression and learned associations? With sections on blue, red, white, black, brown, pink, yellow, green, and purple, SPECTRUM explores the visual pleasure of color, the science of color perception, and the deeply embedded cultural histories of color around the world.
