Our monthly virtual Lunch + Learn sessions each focus on a different timely topic, and give members a chance to listen, learn, and ask questions. 'Meet The Funder: IDA' with Program Officer, Dana Merwin

Prior to joining IDA, Dana was the production manager for Al Jazeera America's documentary unit and the Peabody Award winning series Fault Lines. She was the Director of Operations for Jupiter Entertainment in Los Angeles, where she oversaw delivery of docu-reality series to various cable networks. She has served as a production manager on numerous film and television productions.
'Fan-Based Distribution' with Emmy-nominated filmmaker, Laurel Chiten

Join us for a conversation with Emmy-nominated filmmaker, Laurel Chiten (Blind Dog Films) who will be discussing her experiences with grassroots-driven distribution.
Laurel's most recent film, 'Just One Drop', has seen unbelievable success with 100+ Cinema On Demand screenings and over 200 community screenings worldwide. This was all done with no marketing budget, no ads, no publicist and no traditional press, but through utilizing innovative and consistent digital marketing and building and sustaining her "tribe". During this session, she will share some of her knowledge to help you maximize your reach, impact and revenue. 'Legal Concerns For Filmmakers' with Sandy Forman, Entertainment Attorney

Please join us for a discussion of legal issues impacting documentary filmmakers with Sandy Forman, a Boston-based entertainment lawyer. Sandy and CID Executive Director, Susi Walsh, will be discussing wide ranging concerns to filmmakers such as appearance releases, rights clearances, work for hire agreements, fair use and copyright issues, and collaboration and coproduction agreements. This will be an interactive session where attendees will be able to present their questions (although please keep in mind that Sandy will be unable to give specific legal advice). 'Funding Opportunities & Audience Engagement' with Working Films!

We'll be talking with Molly Murphy who co-directs Working Films, a national nonprofit using documentary film to advance social justice and environmental protection. 'Crowdfunding To Build Independence' with Seed&Spark!

We all have amazing films to make, but finding the money to make them (and the audience to watch them) can be challenging. Seed&Spark is a filmmaker-focused crowdfunding platform created to boost the career-building power of crowdfunding for creators.
