WORLD PREMIERE OF 'WORLDS OF URSULA K. LE GUIN'

After 10 years in the making, CID filmmaker Arwen Curry is proud to announce the World Premiere of WORLDS OF URSULA K. LE GUIN at Sheffield Doc/Fest in the UK on June 10th and 12th. The visually rich documentary explores the life and legacy of the groundbreaking science fiction and fantasy writer, who passed away in January. Featuring Margaret Atwood, Neil Gaiman, David Mitchell, Michael Chabon, Samuel R. Delany and more.

 

'CRIP CAMP' WINS BIG AT DOCLANDS DOC PITCH

A huge congratulations to CID filmmakers, Jim LeBrecht and Nicole Newnham whose film, CRIP CAMP, took home the $25,000 grand prize at the DocLands Documentary Film Festival DocPitch! DocPitch works to connect filmmakers and their ideas to distributors, organizations, philanthropists, fellow filmmakers, and future audiences.

In the true spirit of supporting indie films, Jim and Nicole chose to pay it forward and donate $5,000 of their prize to another project that pitched.

'FROM BAGHDAD TO THE BAY' AWARDED BEST FILM AT OUTSHINE MIAMI

CID filmmaker, Erin Palmquist, is thrilled to share that FROM BAGHDAD TO THE BAYwas awarded 'Best Film' at the OUTshine Film Festival in Miami, FL!

The documentary follows the journey of an Iraqi refugee and former translator for the US military. Wrongfully accused of being a double agent, tortured, and ostracized from his family and country Ghazwan Alsharif struggles to rebuild his life in the US while coming out as an openly gay man.

ENCORE NATIONAL PUBLIC TV SCREENING OF 'THE GUY NEXT DOOR'

In celebration of LGBTQ Pride month, the award-winning documentary THE GUYS NEXT DOOR from the filmmaking team of Allie Humenuk and Amy Geller, is having an encore National Public TV screening on PBS'sThe World Channel on Tuesday, June 19th, 9pm. It will also premiere locally on Maine Public Television on Thursday, June 28th, 10pm and Saturday, June 30th, 11am. If you've missed this heartwarming story of family, friendship and gay rights, please watch!

BENEFIT CONCERT FOR 'OUR NEIGHBORHOOD'

Want to hear great live music and support documentary film? Check out the benefit concert and screening for Seth Fein's OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, a new documentary about the origins of fake news in Washington's TV Cold War against Fidel Castro in the sixties.

The event will take place on June 16th, from 6pm - 9pm at Terraza 7 (40-19 Gleane Street, Elmhurst, Queens 11373). Live music by Radio Jarocho & Zenen Zeferino from their recently released CD, Rios de Norte y Sur.

'LIFE INTERRUPTED' SCREENING IN OAKLAND, CA

LIFE INTERRUPTED screened at The Maple Theatre in Metro Detroit to a sold-out crowd. The screening was a benefit for Gilda's Club, Metro Detroit and raised over $12,000.

On June 5th, The Berkeley Film Foundation will present LIFE INTERRUPTED at The New Parkway Theatre in Oakland as part of their spring film series. The event includes a post-screening Q&A.

'GETTING STARTED' AT OUTSHINE MIAMI

Andrea Meyerson is touring the festival circuit with her new film GETTING STARTED, about two women who meet online and the challenges they face in their relationship.
