Jessica Massa
As the Senior Director of Programming and Creator Development at BuzzFeed, Jessica Massa directed and produced short documentaries with over 300 million views that focused on underrepresented voices and topics including incarceration, implicit racial bias, and a variety of inclusive stories centering race, gender, and sexuality. She also oversaw many of BuzzFeed’s Webby and Streamy Award-winning video teams, was critical in the growth of brands that reached over 200 million subscribers, and co-facilitated the company’s internal training programs around inclusive leadership and content creation. As an author, Jessica published her non-fiction book The Gaggle with Simon & Schuster in 2012, and optioned the book for film development with New Line Cinema and for TV/digital development with Ryan Seacrest Productions and ABC Studios. She also wrote on the Cinemax show The Girl’s Guide to Depravity and became a sought-after pundit on Millennial culture, regularly appearing in press outlets like The New York Times, CNN, Rolling Stone, and The Today Show. Her fascination with the human experience was honed as an undergraduate in Harvard University’s psychology labs and while getting her Master’s in Applied Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.
