25 athletes. 6 months. 9 spots on Team USA. A gold medal at stake.
This yet-to-be-titled documentary follows a group of visually-impaired athletes as they fight for gold in the second-ever Blind Baseball International Cup.
It’s April 2024 as the athletes’ outdoor training season begins. They have 6 months to prepare for the big competition. They are men and women, from 20 to 64 years of age, with varying degrees of vision. They are beauty pageant queens, world travelers, college students, moms, sons, breakers-of-glass-ceilings, all who have come together to compete and defy expectations.
The world tournament takes places this time in England, where Team USA hopes to surpass their previous third place finish and win gold. But to get there, the athletes will have challenges to overcome both on and off the field. In addition to chronicling the high-stakes competition, the documentary will explore what it means to live without one of your senses. When did each player discover their vision was different? How do they navigate not just the sport, but their world? What does it look like not just to survive but to thrive?
