This is the story of the life and activism of Bob Kohler, a gay man living in New York City from the 1940s until his death, at age 81, in 2007. A witness to the Stonewall Riots, which started the modern gay rights movement, Bob helped found the Gay Liberation Front, America’s first radical gay rights organization, and was involved with the Black Panthers, ACT-UP, Fed Up Queers (FUQ), Irish Gays, Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR), and the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), among many, many other groups. His legacy lives on in the activists he worked with, mentored, and inspired, many of whom are still advocating for change and social justice.
