ICSD is a documentary about the journey that 20 CSU Fresno first year Master of Social Work graduate students undertake to fundraise, organize, and prepare to attend and present their cutting-edge research at the ICSD conference in Yogyakarta, Indonesia during the Summer of 2019. 


Ewan Duarte is an award-winning independent filmmaker, writer, and artist. He holds his MFA in Cinema from San Francisco State University. He is pursuing his Master’s in Social Work at the California State University, Fresno. He has previously done successful films such as Change Over Time and Spiral Transition. His short films have been shown nationally and internationally in over 140 film festivals. Dr. Dheeshana S Jayasundara , PhD. is an Associate Professor at CSU Fresno and is an advising faculty member on this project. From 2015--2017 she was the chair of the Council on Global Social Issues (one of the two Councils under the Commission on Global Social Work Education) under her leadership, the following educational videos were created by various faculty: “Nepal’s Earthquake Disasters of 2015." She helped digitally document a Disaster Forum in partnership with Sri Lankan Permanent Mission to the UN, and the Creation of a refugee’s video of success in Texas.

Deenah Kafeel is a film student in at the University of Texas at Austin, she has participated in several film endeavors.
